Brinkman Real Estate Grows Montana Presence with Strategic Acquisition in Kalispell

Brinkman Real Estate, a Colorado-based multifamily investment firm specializing in Intermountain West markets, announced the acquisition of The Meridian Apartments, a newly constructed 180-unit Class A community in Kalispell, Montana. This transaction marks Brinkman’s fourth acquisition in the state and expands its footprint in the high-growth Flathead County region, where it also owns The Highline Apartments in nearby Columbia Falls.

The Meridian was acquired at a significant discount relative to comparable assets in similarly supply-constrained markets. The company’s capital markets team, in partnership with Greystone’s debt team led by Tim Wright, executed a Fannie Mae loan assumption and simultaneously closed on a supplemental loan. The team actively managed a challenging and complicated due diligence process to maximize proceeds and position the asset for success.

“Our success at The Highline gave us firsthand insight into the strength of this region,” said Larry Braud, VP of Investments at Brinkman Real Estate. “With continued job growth, record-low unemployment, a business-friendly environment, and limited new supply, Kalispell has all the fundamentals we look for in a market.”

Kalispell is currently the fastest-growing region in Montana, having experienced 18% population growth in the last decade. Its economy is anchored by a robust healthcare sector, a thriving tourism industry tied to nearby Glacier National Park, and growing interest from remote workers and tech entrepreneurs seeking a high quality of life. Flathead County boasts the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.7%, nearly 50% below the national average.

Built in 2023, The Meridian includes a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Community amenities include a basketball court, outdoor grill and picnic area, dog park, and on-site leasing and maintenance. Interior finishes feature quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, vinyl plank flooring, and keyless entry.

Brinkman plans to enhance the resident experience through targeted improvements such as in-unit laundry additions, fencing for first-floor studios, and upgrades to the dog park and shared outdoor areas. Operational efficiencies will also be realized by leveraging its existing relationship with Entrust Property Solutions, which also manages The Highline.

The Meridian is located on Kalispell’s growing west side, adjacent to a new 20-acre public park and within 20 minutes of both Columbia Falls and Whitefish. This location offers both accessibility and serenity, aligning with Brinkman’s strategy of investing in lifestyle-driven, high-demand markets in the Intermountain West.
